Review:

I did not read the first book, but there was enough here that I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything jumping in right here at book two. The first part of this book was slow.  I was left wondering if I would enjoy the read.  This was during the building of Tiffany and Christians dance around each other and their true feelings.  Then the book got good.  The idea was new and interesting to have vampire that can reproduce and need help from a fertility Doctor.  Bring in the drama of someone who is killing babies and the suspense has got me.  There was no putting this book down once I got into it. This is all topped off with a building romance.  By the end I had to say this held my interest and kept me reading.

Although this is the third in a series it did not seem like I was missing anything. The characters were so multifaceted that they drew you into their lives without realizing it. I had no trouble getting involved and it made the story wrap around my heart. I yelled and I cried and I begged for the outcome I wanted but James had a story to tell and she would not be swayed!! And what an ending!! Please check out Breaking Roman and see for yourself what an awesome author this is. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

They call me Romeo.

I love romancing women, and I’m good at it.

Too bad it is all a ruse.

Roman, the youngest of the three Moran brothers, is the only one who has ever believed in true love. Too bad his one special person barely acknowledges his existence.

Sabrina Morris spends her days running the HR Department of The Moran Group, and her nights corralling her teenage daughter. She doesn’t have time for love. She’s heard the stories, but Roman is not at all what she expects him to be. His gentle nature catches her completely off-guard. She doesn’t expect to be attracted to him, and she certainly doesn’t expect him to be equally drawn to her. But can she see past his Romeo façade and allow the warm, loving man into her life?

Review:

In this third novel in author L.M Pruitt’s Damned series we catch up with Julie, Cam, and the rest of the gang from the first book. Cam’s plans for taking over are well underway, and Julie is in very deep undercover. But as they say, the best laid plans……Cam and Julie have settled, quite happily, in Prague with Barry, and after a brief scuffle with Lilith, things go quiet. Until Julie begins feeling a bit off…..I won’t reveal any more of the book, but suffice it to say, I loved it. I was hooked from the first page, clear through the last. It’s a wild ride with massive twists and turns, and I am very eagerly anticipating the next book in the series, Torment!

And I want them both. I want it all.

Temptation will be my salvation. Or my ruin.

Excerpt:

Is it done?” Cam strapped the saddle bags he’d somehow managed to stuff all my clothes in to the little bike—not quite a motorcycle but bigger and less dorky than a scooter. When I didn’t answer right away, he stepped over to me, grabbing my face in his hands and squeezing. “Coniglietto. Is it done? Did you take care of her?”

“Yes.” Even to my own ears my voice sounded dull and lifeless. Considering the fact I felt high as fucking kite, I could only assume it was shock. “I took care of her.”

Not in the way he meant, not exactly, but I’d taken care of her the best way I knew how.

I’d done a lot of horrible things, on purpose and accident, and I had no doubt I would do more horrible things still. But I’d be damned even more than I already was before I actually killed my sister.

“Good girl.” Cam pressed a quick, hard kiss to my forehead before steering me toward the bike. “I have little doubt the archangels will be here soon—so we shouldn’t be.”

“Where are we going?” It didn’t matter. I had, for all intents and purposes, hooked my wagon to his. If anyone threw doubt on my commitment to the so-called cause, all Cam would have to do was point out what I’d done to Joanne. Sure, there might be trouble when it came out she wasn’t actually dead but it could all be explained away as yet another newbie mistake.

After all, they taught us how to not kill people. Not the opposite.

“I’m thinking Prague.” He settled himself on the bike, gesturing for me to do the same. He handed me a helmet, his lips curving upward when I stared at it blankly. “Safety, little rabbit. And a disguise. It’s safer for us to blend in at the moment.”

“Right.” My hands felt thick and clumsy as I struggled to strap on the protective headgear and I cursed under my breath when Cam finally took pity on me and did it himself. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

“Change is hard, little rabbit.” He brushed his lips over mine before flicking the tip of my nose. “Now, let’s go take over the world, hmm?”

Review:

#MomFail is an anthology of 24 stories from different authors, and each story is a quick read. I am not going to review a certain author because I loved this anthology as a whole. Each story had me laughing and reminiscing back when my boys were young. I have to admit I have done some of the things these authors have dubbed #MomFail but I did not think it was this funny at the time. Awesome job ladies. Thank you for the fond memories that this anthology brought back to me. Give yourselves a hug and a pat on the back because being a mom is the hardest and most rewarding job in the world.

Excerpt:

Prologue

Johnson City, TN April 25, 2016

Leslie Jennings carefully folded the last of her husband’s shirts and zipped up the suitcase.  She picked it up, struggling as she did.  Leslie was only 5’2, and very slim.  The suitcase was almost as big as she.  Leslie managed to get it to the floor, where she raised the handle and rolled it to the top of the stairs.  Now she had to get it downstairs without making too much noise.  Carter would accuse her of trying to destroy his Louis Vuitton luggage.   After ten minutes of pulling the luggage down one stair at a time, Leslie finally rolled it to the front door.  She ran quickly back upstairs and grabbed his garment bag.  She had already packed this and she hurried back downstairs.

She was waiting by the luggage when Carter came downstairs, his briefcase hanging from his shoulder.  He was dressed in a sharp gray suit, white dress shirt, and patterned gray tie.  Leslie studied him while he glanced through his phone.   Carter was of average height, with graying brown hair and eyes.  He had sharp features and rarely smiled.  His only pleasure was making a sale.  He owned a real estate company and it was very successful.  They had been married for thirty years and they had no children.

Carter didn’t like kids, so they didn’t have any. He glanced up from his phone and gave Leslie the once-over.  She was wearing her scrubs, ready to go to work at the hospital after she dropped Carter off at the airport.  She worked the seven p.m. to seven a.m. shift when he was gone on business trips.  He thought if she worked at night, she wouldn’t be out doing anything else. She didn’t know why it mattered if she was seeing anyone or not.

He was not the affectionate type and most of the time he acted like he hated Leslie. It wasn’t an issue anyway, Leslie didn’t go anywhere outside of work and her grandmother’s house. The only people she talked to were her co-workers and her grandmother Jody.  Carter didn’t allow her to socialize with anyone other than someone he approved, and he didn’t approve of anyone. “Looks like you’re ready to go.  Is this all my stuff?”

Carter waved his hand over the luggage. Leslie nodded.  “Yes, that’s it.  I packed everything you had on the list.” Carter picked up his garment bag and gestured for Leslie to get his suitcase.  She picked it up and carried it to the car waiting right outside the door in their driveway that curved around the front of the house.  She couldn’t roll it; Carter would get upset.  She managed to get it in the trunk of his Mercedes.   He got in the driver’s side and Leslie in the passenger side.  Silently they drove out of the subdivision.

Carter finally spoke when they had gotten to the highway. “Tell me your schedule,” he commanded. “After I drop you off, I’m going home to get my car.  I’ll put yours in the garage.  Then, I’m going to Jody’s to fix her supper, then I’m off to work.  I work the night shift.  I get off at seven a.m.  I’ll go back to Jody’s and fix her breakfast, then home for a few hours of sleep.  Then I’ll get up and complete the to-do list that you made.”

Carter nodded in satisfaction.  “Very good.  I approve.” Leslie stared out the window.  How she would love to hit him right in his arrogant face.

Well, that was all going to change tonight.  When she finally made it to work tonight, she was going to leave her cell there.  Carter had a tracking app on it.  She had already spoken to her supervisor and he had promised that he would help Leslie in any way that he could.

Leslie was going to get on a Greyhound bus tonight and start her journey away from Carter.  She had been saving money for months, a little at a time and squirreling it away at Jody’s.  She would go get the money and see Jody one more time. After that, she was going to leave her car at the bus terminal and take the bus to Memphis, rest, get on another bus to New Orleans, and slowly make her way around the southeast coast to a little island town in North Carolina called Land’s End.

Leslie had heard Jody talk about the little town for years.  Leslie’s first cousin, Samantha, lived there with her husband, Andy, who was also the sheriff of the town.  Samantha had never contacted Jody, but through the internet, Leslie had been able to track them down for Jody. Even though she knew where they were, Jody wouldn’t contact her.  She was waiting for Samantha to come to her. She knew what Samantha had been through, and Jody didn’t want to bring back sad memories to Samantha until she was ready.  Leslie thought it was a good a place as any to start over.  Maybe she and Samantha could become friends. Carter didn’t know about Samantha.  Jody had quite a bit of money and owned a large historical home.

Carter thought that Leslie was going to inherit all of it.  He didn’t mind if Leslie took care of Jody, in fact, he insisted that she go there before and after work.  If he knew that there was someone else to split the inheritance with, he would be very angry with Leslie, even though it wasn’t her fault. Leslie was tired of being the recipient of his anger.  When they first married, she wasn’t aware of his violent temper or that he was a control freak.  She thought that the reason he watched her every move and told her what to wear, who to be friends with, etc., was because he cared about her.

Her parents had died when Leslie was ten. Her grandmother had taken her in and raised her.  Leslie loved Jody, but she had missed her parents, especially her father terribly. That was one of the things that had attracted her to Carter.  He was several years older than she was.  He owned his own business, home and he was very settled and mature for a man in his early thirties.

The first time she did something he didn’t approve of they had been married for a year. He had backhanded her and bruised her cheek so badly that she had to wear pancake makeup for over a week.  It took her while to figure out what set him off, but over the years she had managed to get into his routine and kept herself from getting hurt.

They were getting close to the airport and Carter started droning out instructions to her.  She could recite what he was telling her in her sleep; but she answered him in the way he liked for her to respond. No sense in getting him upset.  It was so close for time for her to leave; she could deal with him for a few more minutes. He pulled up in front of the doors in the unloading zone.  Leslie got out and waited for him to open the trunk.  She handed him his garment bag, then pulled his suitcase out.  He took the handle from her. “I’ve got it from here.  Get my car home and put away.  I will see you in a week.”

Without any further words, he went inside the terminal and Leslie got in to drive his car home. He had always told her that he would kill her if she left.  When she had celebrated her 55th birthday in January, Leslie had known that this year was the year she had to leave.  Living like this was killing her, and she deserved a chance for happiness sometime in her life.

Review:

When head baseball Coach, Dominic Hardy, meets Corey Cooper, soon to be Guidance Counselor of the all boys school of St Leasing, his thoughts of her are not what he typically thinks of women, since he isn’t interested in commitments. Dominic also doesn’t think Corey should be the new Guidance Counselor because St Leasing isn’t your typical all boys school. St Leasing has a secret that he doesn’t think Corey can handle, but Dominic and she bond easily, and he begins to realize that Corey is different from all the other women he’s been spending time with. Besides the school’s secret, there’s also the mystery of what exactly happened to the last Guidance Counselor, who disappeared without a good bye or a trace. Then there’s dealing with the “boys” and their issues.
I truly enjoyed this shifter romance mystery. I love when a book makes me chuckle and want to continue reading, which this one certainly did. I almost forgot to mention the steamy bedroom scenes.
I am looking forward to more St Leasing stories from this new to me author.

I have read all of Chance Carter’s books and looked forward to this one. Fire & Ice is Chance Carter’s best book by far. Score this a big WIN for Mr. Carter and his readers. This book grabbed me from the first page and did not let go until I turned and read the last one. This book is truly a well written book. I fell in love with Nora, Gage and Leo’s characters. They are relatable and believable. As Nora dates both of these men she begins to have feelings for both of them. You will have to read this True Love Story to find out what happens and who wins. I Highly Recommend this book. Can’t wait to see what Chance has for us next.

Review:

I have read several of Nikky Kaye’s books and I think this on just might be my favorite book. Awesome read. This one to me feels a little different in writing style but I really enjoyed it. Gage and Maddie are the perfect main couple along with the secondary characters in this book. While reading about the events they participated in at the retreat all I could think about was, my corporate retreats were never like this. And if they were they would not have been so boring. This is a full length novel that is Hot, Sexy, Eventful, and a Fun read. I highly recommend this book and author.

Description:

Maddie’s rules for attending a work retreat:

1 Pack the right clothes. Especially extra underwear.
2 Don’t try to school your insanely hot boss on acceptable trust exercises.
3 Be prepared for the extracurricular ropes course.
4 Make sure there is a safety net when you fall, because you will fall hard

Gage doesn’t appreciate how hard it is to be his right hand woman—especially when I’m spending so much time with my own right hand, fantasizing about him. My demanding, control freak boss is testing all my limits, and I don’t know how long I can stay professional.

No Excuses is a hot, full-length contemporary romance, featuring blindfolds, rope play, food fights, and sexy architectural features like wainscoting. As in all Nikky Kaye books, cheating is not allowed, but some funny stuff and a HEA are non-negotiable.

Excerpt:

When he took my hand, he pressed his open mouth first to my palm, then the pulse point on my wrist. I was sure it was fluttering like a freaking butterfly.
“I want to show you my playroom. It’s important to me.”
Oh god. “Um, okay.” I could do this. I could totally do this.
He led me down the hallway in his little dollhouse. Another time I would have run my hand along the banister at the top of the stairs, its patina velvety with age. Or I would have probably noticed the vintage glass doorknobs at each room. But all I could see was the bright white of his shirt like a truce flag as I trailed behind him.
He stopped us in front of a door at the back of the house, and I hesitated. Actually, we both did. Gage rubbed the back of his neck. The direct, motivated, successful billionaire was nervous—and that made my knees close to knocking together.
“This is probably the most… personal, private part of me,” he explained haltingly, his gaze penetrating me. “Someday I would like very much for you to join me in here.”
Do not hyperventilate, I told myself. You are a mature, sexually active adult with an open mind—and past rope burns to prove it. You just role-played in the office, for god’s sakes. Do not embarrass yourself.
Instinctively, I squeezed my eyes shut as he reached for the knob, and the door creaked open. When I opened my eyes to slits, it was first to look up at the exultant look on Gage’s face. Then I faced the playroom. I hadn’t realized I’d been holding my breath until it whooshed out of me.
“Gage, you are sick and wrong. Just no. No.”
“What?”
“How can you have Pac-Man but not Ms. Pac-Man?” I pointed to the array of arcade games lined up against the far wall. “That was clearly the better game!”
“I beg to differ.” With his arms crossed over his chest like that and his jaw looking like it had been set in concrete, there would be no persuading him.
At least he had Mortal Kombat and… was that a Dance Dance Revolution platform? It was covered in Japanese writing.
“Please tell me you have an Xbox.”
“Baby, I have everything.” He pointed to the giant beanbag and large—but not huge—television in one corner. Gage was almost glowing as brightly as the screens on the old consoles. Their sound had been muted, but the lights blinked in the background like dozens of little disco lights.
I wanted to laugh at myself for my idiotic fear. Whips and chains? Come on. I began giggling as I imagined myself bent over and tied to a bubble hockey table.
Boys and their toys. It gave a whole new meaning to “joystick.” At that ridiculous thought I bent over a little, my hands on my thighs, trying to cork up the laughter.
“What’s so funny?”
“Oh god, you are.”
He stiffened, probably unused to being seen as a source of comedy. Well, it was past time to change that. Finally I managed to control my giggle fit, which was probably half due to relief.
His annoyance came out in a strange sound from deep in his throat. When I flung my arms around his waist, he felt as though made of steel. I wanted to melt him down in a fiery forge and bend him into sinuous shapes. Cradling his carved jaw in my hands, I pulled him down for a tender, apologetic kiss.
“I would love to play with you, Gage. But you should know that I take no prisoners in Mario Kart.”
He sighed against my lips, multi-tasking while devouring me. “That is one… of… the sexiest… things… I’ve ever… heard… come out… of your mouth.”

About The Author:

Nikky Kaye is almost my real name. I’m a former Film professor who likes more than her movies to be black and white. Sadly, the world doesn’t work that way. I have worked with movie stars, Ivy League brainiacs, and the United Nations—all of which means that I’m familiar with ass-kissing, power struggles, greed and faking it. In my spare time I parent 5 year-old twin boys, serve on the board of an independent cinema, and run a medical consulting company.

Review:

One of the things I love about reading is finding new authors that are able to grab me from the first page. This is one of those books. It pulled me in and did not let go until the very end. This is not your typical “billionaire” novel. I loved the two main characters Jack and Dahlia and the secondary characters were needed to build and bind this storyline. Jack is an unpredictable, sexy billionaire and Dahlia is a rule following dating expert. But rules were ment to be broken right? Some of them anyway. This is a fun, sexy, pop culture reminder, romantic comedy that deals with some of lifes hard subjects with humor. I look forward to reading more from this author. If you are looking for a great weekend read this is the book for you. I highly recommend this book.

Description:

I’m Dahlia Rossi, dating coach extraordinaire. I know how to land you the man of your dreams. Follow my rules, you’ll meet the love of your life and have a gorgeous destination wedding in French Polynesia. Okay, that last one happened just the one time. But my rules work every time. I guarantee it.

1. The man makes the first move. Seems unfair? Life’s unfair.
2. Never have sex on the first date. No, not even oral. And hands     above the table, please.
3. Play hard to get, but don’t make it toohard.

Solid rules, right? I thought they were. But then I met Jack Carraway, an impossibly sexy, frustratingly unpredictable billionaire, and broke them all. Everywhere. In an elevator. On a balcony. Beneath a gazebo, of all places.

Whether I like it or not (spoiler alert: I like it!), Jack is taking me on wild adventure and we’re writing a whole new set of rules. Like, always reserve your matching Harry Potter costumes a week in advance; wrestling swans is not as easy as it looks; and sometimes, the man of your dreams pops up in the most unlikely of places and has a really big…boat.

After years of watching couples find love, it may be my turn. But is this spontaneous playboy the real thing, or just a fun detour around my predictable life? All this time I’ve been following my own rules and going to sleep alone, with nothing but my second slice of princess cake to keep me company.

But the more time I spend with Jack, the more I learn that rules…they’re meant to be broken.

In love there’s only one rule: there are no rules.
