Description:

Life is a bitch. Keeps screwing me over, and I take blow after blow, sucking it up, giving her the finger.

Don’t get me wrong: I love women. Especially one woman – Madeline. She’s gorgeous, she’s sexy, she’s goddamn perfect.

Plus – minor detail – she has a boyfriend already.

Not that she’d want anything to do with the likes of me. Apprentice tattoo artist, former homeless person, covered in ink, without a penny to my name.

And sort of cursed. I mean, I’d be lucky to run into a girl, any girl, on my way in and out of hospitals with the way life has been knocking me about lately.

But I’m not lucky. Never was. Doesn’t look like that’s gonna change any day soon, either.

Until the day the girl of my dreams literally runs into me. With her car.

Life hates me, and if this isn’t a clue, then I don’t know what is.

Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.

*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

SETH is book 3 in the series Damage Control – a series set in the same world as Inked Brotherhood. The boys of Damage Control were taken in by Zane Madden and Rafe Vestri and offered apprenticeship and work in the tattoo shop Damage Control.

Next in the Damage Control series: SHANE(Damage Control 4).

Review:
I loved this book. This was the first book of Ms Jacks I have read and boy was it an enjoyable read. I read this book in one sitting and did not realize I had come to the end of the book until I turned to the last page. And then I was not a happy camper. It ended on a cliffhanger. As I yelled at my kindle “OH NO!” My son came running to see if I was all right. No I was not all right, I had finished this wonderful book and it had end on a cliffhanger. I only hope the the next one in this series comes out quickly. Ms Jacks has written a well developed storyline with complex characters that are also well developed. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book. I highly recommend this book.

Cait is especially shocked and conflicted by her attraction to the irresistible charms of Liam Justice. Liam is like no man she has ever known and she is totally captivated and unprepared for the sinfully erotic, passionate affair they enter into.
As her world is turned upside down, Cait must cope with her growing affection for Liam and his shadowed past.

Excerpt:

I head down the hallway past the kitchen to the supply room. The door is stuck, and I give it a bump with my hip reaching around the doorframe for the light switch. The door closes softly behind me as I take a moment looking around for the cocktail napkins. The light in here is dim, but I finally spot the container. Pulling the sliding library ladder along the shelf rail, I climb carefully in my heels until I’m level with the box I want, delving inside to pull out a couple of the napkin packs. As I step down a rung, hands close around my waist startling me, and I step back off the ladder. With a little shriek, I fall into strong arms. I know surprise is registering on my face, but the angry eyes of Liam Justice, glaring down into my own, puzzles me.

“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

I push against his chest. “Put me down!”

Oh, this is too embarrassing. Not the fact that I feel a fool for falling into his arms or the obvious fact that he’s not happy about it, but because I’m suddenly panting. My chest feels tight, my lungs compressed, and I’m struggling for every breath I take. My lips part as desire coils low in my belly. His eyes flick to my mouth, and then back to my eyes with intent, slowly letting my legs slide down the length of his body. Standing in front of him, my heels bring me closer to his mouth, which plays havoc with my equilibrium. I sway slightly. Snaking his arm around my waist, he anchors me to his front as his other arm reaches up to the back of my head, his hand grabbing a fistful of  hair, pulling my head back. An involuntary gasp escapes at his sudden move, and I grasp his broad shoulders, fingers curling into the fabric of his shirt.

“Are you trying to break your fucking neck?” His voice is soft, his breath fanning across my face. I struggle for a deep breath, his scent infusing every cell of my body. This man could make a serious dent in the cologne industry if he bottled his mind-numbing scent. His lashes cast shadows on his cheekbones as my eyes move across his face down to his lips.

“No.” I breathe, looking back up to his incredibly blue eyes. I hope he never lets me go—

He leans over me slightly, pressing me against his arm causing my back to bow. There’s some kind of pulsating, vibrating energy passing back and forth between us. I can feel it, and I wonder if he does.

I lick my dry lips. “You… startled me.”

Before I can take another breath, his mouth comes crashing down on mine, his tongue sweeping in to quickly stroke mine. His mouth is hot, and he tastes incredible. With a mind of their own my hands move from his shoulders to delve into his thick, soft hair as he presses his rock hard erection into my lower belly. His mouth moves over mine sucking my bottom lip between his teeth where he bites down gently. He keeps me anchored against his front, and I moan softly when I feel his hand slide up under the skirt of my dress, stroking my thigh, moving up to my hip. His hand is unbelievably warm as his fingers splay around my hip and dig into my bare bottom.

“Your skin is so soft,” he murmurs as his lips move along my jaw to take my tender earlobe between his teeth, biting down. I whimper at the slight pain.

“Shhh.”

I jerk and almost yelp, grabbing hold of his upper arms when his hand moves from my hip and cups me between my legs. He looks up to meet my eyes. Before I have a chance to decipher his wicked grin he’s twisting the fabric of my thong in his hand, his fingers shredding the delicate fabric as he rips it from my body. I do yelp at the burning sensation where the elastic bites into my skin.

“Caitlyn you need to keep quiet,” he breathes as he bends me back further, placing his mouth in the hollow of my throat, his hand once again cupping my sex. I squeak at the contact and feel his smile against my skin.

“You’re already hot and wet for me.” He raises his head to look into my face. “I do like that, sugar. I like that very much.”

Review:

This was quite a book. A bit different in that the story involves a married couple. Ryker and Mac are two very complex characters, well written. Cheryl Douglas delves into the things that happen in a marriage of 20 years when love exists but not much else. The writing is smart and the insights are right on. I was on the edge of my seat and hoping so hard that each would find happiness.  There are any number of twists and the emotions are so strong that I kept feeling my heart stop, beat faster and in general ride the rollercoaster with Mac and Ryker. The supporting cast is well done and I can’t help hope that Ryker’s brothers find their own story being told by Ms. Douglas .Oh, and did I mention there is some really hot sex? It is nice to see a book about a mature couple and see that they still are sexual beings and not just rocking on the front porch. I can MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND, RYKER, BY Cheryl Douglas

Description:

Mackenzie Steele assumed she’d be with her husband forever. He was her best friend, the father of her children. But when weeks turned into months without intimacy, she realized she was too young to feel so old. She wanted to feel desirable again, to find the woman Ryker had fallen in love with twenty years ago. And there was only one way she knew how to do that… by asking him to move out.

Ryker was blindsided when his wife told him she wanted to separate. He knew they’d hit a roughpatch, but he’d never allowed himself to imagine his life without her. Now he had no choice. Shewas happy without him, living life on her own terms, and he knew if he didn’t find a place for himself in her new life, it would be too late to save his marriage.

Excerpt:

“I don’t know why the hell I let you talk me into this,” I said, smoothing my palm over my

stomach to settle the butterflies. “I’m not ready to date. It’s too soon.”

My best friend since our freshman year of high school, Molly, rolled her eyes at me in the

full-length mirror. “Ryker moved out six months ago. You’ve been working your butt off,

literally, since then. It’s time for you to get out there and show it off, girl.”

My friend was right. I had been working hard at the gym. Every day. Tirelessly. I’d had to

hire a trainer since I had no idea how to lift weights, and he’d patiently helped me develop a

routine that banished the bingo wings that had always made me too self-conscious to wear tank

tops.

“How much weight have you lost now?” she asked, filing her nails. “Twenty-five, thirty

pounds?”

“Twenty-eight, last time I checked.” Which had been yesterday. I had a love-hate

relationship with the scale. I tried to keep it in the bathroom cabinet in the basement, but that

didn’t prevent me from running downstairs buck naked every other day to check my progress.

“That dress is a size freakin’ four,” Molly said, clapping. “I’m so proud of you. You’ve

never looked hotter.”

She was my best friend; she had to say that. But I had to admit, I did feel better about

myself than I had in a really long time.

“Um, Mac, I have to tell you something, and I’m not sure how you’re going to take it.”

I swung around to face her, knowing the news she was about to impart would be bad. I

could always tell by the tone of her voice. “What is it?”

“I saw Ryker out for dinner with another woman last weekend.” She held her breath,

waiting for me to say something. When I didn’t, she rushed on. “That’s why I was on you about

going out with this guy I work with. Why the hell should your ex be out with some blond

bombshell while you’re sitting at home, wasting the best years of your life?”

About the Author:

When one door closes, another one opens. I closed the door to my business for the last time in 2011, which left me with a decision. What now? Find another location and move my nutrition business, go to work for someone else, or take a chance on my dream? I chose the latter and I’ve never looked back!
I’ve always loved reading and writing, but it wasn’t until I jumped in with both feet and decided writing would be my career, instead of just a hobby, that my muse woke up from her deep slumber.

It was like someone flipped a switch inside my head and stories just came pouring out. At the end of the day, I would often look at the keyboard and wonder, ‘Who the heck wrote that? ‘Cause I’m pretty sure it wasn’t me!’

I don’t write books. I tell stories, or rather, I allow my characters to tell their stories through me. I’m not a plotter, never have been, never will be. Why? Because I have no idea how the story will evolve and it’s not my place to manipulate it. My job is to get to know these characters, figure out what makes them tick, then follow their journey wherever it takes me.

When I’m not writing, I’m daydreaming. Thankfully, I have an understanding husband and son who know I’ll re-join the land of the living just as soon as my muse decides it’s quitting time. I don’t work for myself. I work for her. She’s the boss. And I’m okay with that.

Description:

During a freak summer storm, screenwriter and heiress, Cara Kelly and movie producer, Levi Callister are marooned alone for days in a mansion used as the set for an erotic film series.

When Levi discovers Cara sleeping naked in one of the sensuously themed rooms, the two embark on a collision course that can only end up in flagrante.

Cara is a nomadic loner, too afraid to commit to family, a home—or even a potted begonia.

Levi is a player—a womanizer and entrepreneur. He needs a lot of money, fast.

So, when sparks fly between the unlikely pair both in and outside of the various sexily-decorated bedrooms, Cara can’t help wondering if Levi’s insatiable interest in her is real—or if it’s just her missing inheritance he’s chasing.

Comingattractions-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-banner1

Excerpt:

She was practically naked—the last pastel pink scrap of lace hid nothing. He could see, touch, taste everything. And yet there was something incredibly intimate and romantic about the slide of his fingers beneath the waistband of her panties, the slow drift of lace and fingertips over her thighs, the feel of his breath against her center.

She was desperately aroused, screamingly eager, wet and hot and throbbing for him. Her clit was puckered tight and the muscles inside her were clenched with anticipation.

He let her panties slither to her ankles, clasped the cheeks of her butt, and pressed his scorching mouth hard and without warning against her wet sex. His lips were apart and he sucked her inside his mouth—the whole plump folded core of her—and his tongue probed unerringly to her clitoris. The feel of his mouth was the most incredible pressure she had ever experienced. The fast, sure flicking of his tongue inside the full suckling of his lips almost drove her out of her mind. She had not known there was pleasure like this to be had.

Her whole body was flushed with longing, her breath was growing irregular, and her pulse was breakdancing all over the place. She could feel the tantalizing edges of orgasm fluttering around the limits of her excitement. But she needed more. Something to tip her over that exquisite, elusive precipice.

“More…” she gasped, clutching at his shoulders as he pressed his face between her thighs, maintaining her pleasure. But even as she begged, she had no idea how he could deliver what she needed. His ministrations were already utterly and deliciously absorbing.

She clung to him, a single drop of perspiration trickling between her engorged breasts as she gasped her need.

“Please…” The word was thin and strangled. She wasn’t even sure what she was asking for.

He slid his right hand from her buttocks around her hip and across her thigh. With nothing more than a gesture, he commanded her thighs apart and, lost in a maelstrom of lust, she mindlessly acquiesced. She felt utterly wanton standing before this man, legs spread while he thrilled her with his talented mouth, his hand stroking relentlessly up and down her thighs.

His fingers traveled lightly, teasingly, sometimes grazing the trimmed hair at her center, occasionally brushing the fleshy entrance to her feminine core.

She could barely catch her breath now and she felt dizzy. Her throat was clamped shut and the razzle-dazzle of dancing lights behind her eyelids told her she was close to losing consciousness. She was no longer holding his shoulders for balance and encouragement. Instead, her fingers dug into his skin for support, and as a desperate plea for him to take her where she needed to go.

“Please, Levi, please…”

He didn’t hesitate. On the next upstroke between her thighs, he drove his finger deep into her sex. Plunging the digit once, twice, thrice into her soaked and scorching channel.

And then she flew apart. The orgasm rocketed through her like a searing star shower. There was no room for thought. Her release was pure sensation, so intense it was almost painful, so complete it was practically spiritual. The spasms rocked the depths of her very being and even as they began to subside, she knew what Levi had given her was a gift both precious and rare, and that the experience had changed her so profoundly there was no return.

Gently, lovingly, he helped her to the bed, easing her quaking body down on the silken covers, sliding beside her and gathering her in his arms. Slowly, as though from far, far away, she came back to herself. First she noticed the warmth of his body in the cool air of the room, the scuff his body hair against her smooth skin, the soothing glide of his fingertips over her quivering arm and her hip. His heartbeat beneath her ear was a perfect counterpoint to the rain thrumming against the window. His breath tasted faintly of mint and wine and her own musk. Her breathing slowed to match his lungs’ steady rhythm and her trembling began to abate.

“You look beautiful there,” he murmured against her hair. “Your golden hair spread all across the bed, your skin glowing, your lips swollen…”

His hands emphasized his words, stroking her body more intently as he spoke. Of their own volition, her fingers followed suit, trailing over his skin, mindlessly exploring the bulges and hollows of his body. He shivered when her short fingernails skimmed his nipple, gasped when she trailed her index finger down his hip toward the waistband of his briefs.

There was no mistaking his arousal. The thick length of him spasmed every time her hand drew close, and there was a tell-tale spot of dampness near the tip. Enjoying his responses, she teasingly drew her fingers around his belly and down the edges of his jutting hipbones, across the elastic of his underwear and up and down the arrow of hair between his navel and the stretch of blue fabric. He hissed and growled and squirmed under her ministrations.

“You are going to drive me completely insane,” he ground out, but he made no move to hurry her or change her agenda. She could see the pulse leaping at his throat, the desperate bob of his Adam’s apple, the sheen of sweat glistening on his brow.

She smiled saccharine sweetly at him and deliberately brushed her hand over the bulge in his pants.

“Really?” Cara said. She did it again. “I’m so sorry…”

“Funny, Cara, you don’t sound very sorry.”

Was he actually panting?

She quirked an eyebrow, her gaze all delighted mischief. “It’s hard to be sorry when there’s this tempting package right in front of me, just begging to be unwrapped.”

“If you’d like to unwrap it, Cara, be my guest.”

“Oh, I’ll unwrap it all right, but I like to open my presents in my own sweet time. I enjoy prolonging the anticipation.”

She scuttled up his body and swallowed his groan in her mouth from her position beside him. The taste of him was complex and addictive. His lips were clever and intuitive. His tongue was thorough and tempting. Cara felt as though she could stay here, kissing like this, lost in Levi forever.

 Dirty Bad Wrong
 They call him Masque.
 I call him God.
The man I want to consume me, own me,
 break me and corrupt me.
Yet I’ve never seen his face.
His body ripples like an Adonis, sculpted in steel and
dripping in sin. His flesh is inked with the mark of the
chimera – one body, two very different halves.
 He plays hard.
 He plays rough.
 He has no limits.
He’s so fucking dirty bad wrong.
But I love him for it.

Lydia Marsh is always the strong one. The girl who never breaks, and sure as hell never cries.  But the rules don’t allow for my dangerous games; they don’t bend for my twisted desires.
Callum Jackson is the most beautiful beast.
 A beast I can’t stop thinking about, can’t stop wanting, can’t stop hunting…
…I just pray to God this beast bites.
Sophia Harding runs a tight ship. She may work in the dregs of housing association slums, but her patch is on the way up.
Anti-social behaviour is down, employment is on the rise, and she’s even been shortlisted for estate manager of the year.
It’s looking good. Really good. Until Callum Jackson completes his jail time and lands right back on her doorstep.
She could do without a guy like him on her books: a failure of the system and a pain in the fucking ass.
She should tick the boxes, do her job and keep her distance – that’s what the handbook says. The handbook says no one-on-one contact, no at-risk situations, no direct confrontation of any kind.
But the handbook doesn’t know of her craving for hardcore submission.
The handbook has no fucking idea how she yearns to unleash Jackson at club Explicit, where his savage can really run wild.
 The handbook doesn’t know shit…
 Dirty Bad Strangers
He calls me his dirty girl.
He’s just a caller, a sex line client, an anonymous pervert like all the others.
 Except he isn’t.
He’s under my skin… his voice, his laugh, his twisted fantasies.
He wants to watch me with other men. Lots of other men.
He wants me blindfolded and bound and taken by strangers until I’m a used-up mess.
Then he wants to take me himself.
I should hang up, report him to my supervisor.

Review:

This book is an enjoyable read. The way the author has created the charácters and the storyline makes this almost feel real. The way the characters meet has become a normal way for people in this big bad world to meet. Over time they start to have feelings for each other, however they can not act on them for a while. I think my favorite part is when they finally meet face to face in person for the first time. This book does bring some military, erotic, interracial, multicultural aspects in to play. If you want a fun easy read this is the book for you.

Her screen name reminded me of that Beastie Boys tune “She’s Crafty.” I liked her direct approach. Cosplay? That was unusual, but hey, I had attended Comic-Con International back in 2013 after my trip to Hawaii—right before I left for Germany—and boy, was it an experience. Tons of hot women in spandex, body paint, and barely-there costumes; Comic-book characters and superheroes are a lot sexier than you’d think.

Since she said she was looking for the boy-next-door type, I’m guessing she meant clean-cut. If so, I was right up her alley. My years in the military led me down a narrow and regimented path. I didn’t drink, much; I certainly didn’t do drugs. I guess compared to her, I might’ve looked boring. Aside from two tattoos—a tiger that took up most of my right shoulder and upper arm, and the Hawaiian word Kākou on my left bicep that I got about a year after I joined the military—there wasn’t anything edgy about me. But I wouldn’t know if I was her type until I took the first step and messaged her.
I’ll admit I hesitated. We seemed like opposites. Based on looks alone, we were so different. Her, a black woman with an unorthodox style, and me a Polynesian-and-white guy with an athletic build. I certainly wasn’t as fashion-forward and daring with my attire as she seemed to be. All I needed was a cool opening line to get her attention. Show her that the clean-cut “unassuming” boy next door can lay pipe just the way she liked it if given a chance.
I knew what I was bringing to the table. She’d never forget me.
I clicked on the box next to her username and composed my message before hitting send. Nothing heavy, just an icebreaker—an icebreaker that was certain to make an impression.
Sgt4U: Knock knock.
About a two minutes passed before she replied.
CraftyBabexXx: Hmm, I’ll play along. Who’s there?

Sgt4U: Orange.

CraftyBabexXx: Orange who?

Sgt4U: Orange you glad someone had the balls to be original on this thing?

There was a long pause. My lame joke was funny in my head. Maybe it didn’t translate well in a text format. Hey, I should have at least gotten points for being unique.

Spotlight: Chance of a Lifetime (Anderson Brothers #3), by Marissa Clarke Reply

Description:

Sometimes the biggest risk is playing it safe…

Gen Richards is tired of living down to her family’s expectation of the helpless blind girl. Resurrecting her high-school bucket list that begins with “kiss a total stranger” seems just the thing until she finds herself in a panty-melting lip lock with her big brother’s best friend.

Chance Anderson thrives on adrenaline, but Genny’s the one risk he’s not willing to take. His recklessness a decade ago landed her in the hospital and ejected him from her life. He’s bad for her and everyone knows it—especially her big brother.

Chance reluctantly helps Gen complete her bucket list in order to keep her out of trouble. Running through a freezing fountain, playing Spin the Bottle while fending off a mad horde of stinging insects, and skinny dipping with homicidal attack swans don’t hold a candle to the real danger: falling for the one person he can never have.

Excerpt:

Will joined him on the end of the pier, feet hitting the water with a splash. “You let her go.”

A waterbird landed on the surface a few yards out, then took off with something in its beak, water spraying from its wings. “I had no choice.”

“Like hell you didn’t. You’ve seriously got the most fucked-up logic, little brother.”

Maybe he did. “When you love someone, you have to let her go.”

“When you love someone, you fight for her.”

“Now you’re the one with the fucked-up logic, big brother. You can only fight for someone who is willing to fight for herself.”

Will studied his toes beneath the surface of the clear water and scrubbed a hand over his closely cropped head. “It scares me that that makes sense.”

Review:

This was a fun romantic read. I loved that it is an older couple who are involved. The author has a way with the snarky and funny conversations. I loved the premise that it is never too late. If you want something that will make you smile and even laugh out loud once in a while then 40 Candles is definitely for you. This is not a lengthy book but long enough to have me hooked on the author. I will be checking out her other books. Definitely Recommended!

Description:

Will she get her wish when she blows out Forty Candles?

Chloe Walker did everything right. She went to college, got a good job, dated the right men—everything. Peering at forty from a bit too close, she realizes she can be miserable that she didn’t end up happily married to the handsome prince…or she can count her lucky stars. She tries to go with stars, but the universe seems to have other plans.

Jack Leonard has loved Chloe since they were kids. He’s stood by her through all life’s little messes, been her shoulder to cry on, and figured one day they’d wind up together. He figures he’s just waiting her out. When her life goes swirly, he’s got to convince her that some men are worth risking it all for.

Can Jack make Chloe rethink her birthday wish or will she get just what she asked for when she blows out Forty Candles?
