Cover Reveal: Abandoned, by Elisa Dane Reply

My name is Tierra Owens, and I like to kiss. A lot. It numbs the hollow ache in my chest and—for a few minutes—makes me forget how truly alone I am. My mother is an alcoholic. She hates me and insists I’m the reason she’s not married to my father, whom I have never met. My best friend, Kaylee, is the only person who knows the real me. Everyone else sees what I want them to: a happy, confident, popular girl who has the world at her feet.

I am a fraud.

Relationships are forbidden. I avoid them at all costs. Sex? Emotions? Those things make a person vulnerable, and vulnerability always leads to heartbreak. When my childhood crush, Mattie shows up at school my world tumbles off its axis. The shell I surround myself with feels more like a pathetic crutch than a protective barrier, and I find myself wanting things. Daydreaming about what it would be like to have a boyfriend, a relationship—love.

The sad fact is: I’ll never have any of those things. I am unworthy—trash. Which is why my mom abandoned me.

This was a powerful, well- crafted book. The Hero is full of faults and yet he is so lovable and worth the fight to find his heart. James Hunter is a player who is thrust unknowingly into the part of the rebound lover for Charlie(Charlotte Bell). She is the sweet but straightforward Aussie who has had a bad break up and per her girlfriends needs a rebound lover to  help her forget. Mindless sex is what she is looking for. And that is what she gets, until it becomes more. The characters are smart and sassy and both have some issues to work through.  The story is gripping, the sex is hot and hotter but under it all is a wonderful love story that will bring you to tears. Within the confines of a fairly short book this author has managed to give us well developed characters, a plot that is well done and some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever read. SERIOUSLY RECOMMEND DEGREES OF CIONTROL

Charlotte Bell is a typical yoga teacher. She’s friendly, earnest and has some slight masochistic tendencies. After a painful break-up she’s determined to address her long-denied kinks with the kind of man she’s always been too terrified to approach. Her friends have select James Hunter a male model turned corporate suit and after a ‘chance’ encounter at a party, James agrees to school Charlie in the harsher side of sex. He knows she’s too genuine, too kind, too everything for a guy like him but he won’t turn down an opportunity to break in a starry-eyed submissive like her. Yet as Charlie and James embark on a strings-free sexual relationship they discover a connection that runs deeper than either of them could have imagined.

Sophia pointed toward the unsuspecting partygoers. “Charlie, you asked me to help you have a one-night stand of the sexually deviant nature.”

Charlie flushed. “I did not ask for that.”

Sophia continued as though she hadn’t spoken. “I can confirm there are thirty-seven single men here tonight, accounting for absences and unexpected girlfriends.”

Hayley sniggered. “Oh good, Charlie’s first thirty-seven man orgy.”

Sophia scowled at her. “To make things easier for you I have narrowed your options down to three ideal candidates based on hotness, height and your particular interests. First up, Blair Hudson, eleven o’clock, talking to Simon.”

Charlie scanned the crowd until she spotted an auburn-haired man with a body that rightfully belonged to Superman towering over everyone around him.

“Holy shit, Charlie, he will destroy you,” Hayley whispered.

“Candidate number two, Conner Moreno,” Sophia continued. “He’s Colombian, a personal trainer and, by all accounts, a demon in the sack.”

She pointed and Charlie took in the man smoking on the back porch. He had a shaved head and a brooding expression.

Hayley moaned. “Ten out of ten, would bang. Would. Bang.”

“No poaching!” Sophia snapped. “You can have Charlie’s cast offs.”

“Why are all these guys so tall?” Charlie asked. “They’ll make me look like a toddler.”

“You specifically requested someone tall! I’m just meeting your demands.”

Charlie groaned. “Sophia, please stop talking like a pimp.”

“No. Tonight that’s what I am, your pimp. Now we have a surprise entry for draft number three because I wasn’t sure he was coming—”

“No. Fucking. Way.” Hayley gripped Charlie’s arm. “Holy shit, Charlie, you have to pick him!”

Sophia glared at Hayley. “Your third choice is James Hunter. Businessman, colossal man-whore and, like myself, an accent to die for.” Sophia stretched out her Texan twang like a piece of warm toffee. “He’s the blond over by the bar.”

Good Lord. Charlie felt like she’d been punched in the stomach, her hand leapt to her curls like they were a protective amulet. The man in question was leaning against a wall, arms crossed in front of his chest. The casual attire, sun-streaked hair and powerful body might have suggested he was a surfer but he lacked a surfer’s relaxed attitude. This man’s body language screamed indifference. The set of his square jaw was authoritative, almost arrogant.

“Abercrombie asked him to model in college,” Hayley whispered. “He got paid to take his shirt off, can you believe it?”

Yes Charlie could. If anyone was born to glare at people from monochrome jean commercials, it was this guy. He was the unapproachable kind of handsome that made her want to cross the street when she saw it.

Sophia nudged. “Okay, so it’s obvious who you prefer. I thought as much. Let’s do this.”

A panicky drumroll kick-started in Charlie’s chest. Sophia couldn’t actually expect her, Charlotte Bell to hit on that Adonis? “No freaking way, Soph. That guy is scary as shit. I’m not going near him.”

Jack “Bulldog” Parrish

Crazy: Mentally deranged, especially as manifested in a wild or aggressive way.

I was thirteen when I discovered the definition of the word I’d forever be labeled.

Some used it as a figure of speech but for me it was a scar I’d carry through life.

Or so I believed until I was diagnosed a manic depressive.

I’m the president of the Satan’s Knights Motorcycle Club, a man of power and control.

A man with enemies near and far.

But the truth, my truth, is my biggest enemy— my mind and I live most of my life with no control whatsoever.

I’m just a man who battles his demons, a man destined to live a life full of darkness.

Until her.

She’s the light beckoning me, calling me home, away from the torment.
In a world as dark as the one I live in, sometimes I can’t help but crave Sunshine.

Reina DeCarlo

I was lost, broken and a prisoner of my scars.

A shell of the woman I used to be, who didn’t know the difference between living and merely existing.

Until a stranger found me, fixed and freed me. He breathed life into my soul, reminding me I was a survivor and still had life to live.

My savior is a biker.

A man tortured by his own scars. A man broken like me, maybe even a little lost too.

I want to be his remedy.

I want to heal him.

I want to return the favor and be his savior.

This is our story, a story neither of us knew how to write until we found each other.

Our eyes lifted simultaneously, glued to one another’s, uncertainty and anticipation pouring from the irises.

“You made me cherry pie,” I spoke huskily. “Really wanted a taste.”

She swallowed hard, visibly pushing down the lump lodged in her throat.

“Gonna have that taste now,” I warned, lifting my thumb and smearing the cherry filling across her mouth. Her lips were soft as they parted just barely, a soft gasp escaping past them as my thumb worked back and forth. She lifted her hand to my wrist and pulled it away from her mouth. I sensed the change in tides, saw the storm roll over in her eyes and knew she was about to push me away but before she did, I took that fucking taste I came here for.

My mouth crashed over hers, my tongue slipped out of my mouth and lapped at her lips, licking all the filling off her. Reina remained perfectly still, holding my wrist as my lips slowly worked hers. I was drunk and not on cherry pie but on Sunshine. My Sunshine.

“Fucking delicious,” I grunted, before I took her lower lip between my teeth. Just a nibble.

Just a taste.

She moaned.

And that was it.

Spotlight: The Lost Heir, by Allison Whitmore Reply

(99 cent for a limited time only!)

Isabella Foxworthy was just another girl…until she learned she was an empath, able to read the energy of others. A secret world known as the Violet City lies beneath her family’s hotel in Los Angeles. Through this discovery, Isabella is catapulted into a whirlwind of magic, adventure, and danger. The Violet City holds the key to protecting her stability; her family hotel, her friends, and her very sanity.

With morphlings, empaths, and fair folk also comes a powerful entity that twists her mind into knots, threatening everything she loves. Now, Isabella and her new friends—a guitar-playing jock, his gifted but neurotic brother, and a set of over-indulged twins—have until her 16th birthday to save her world with the help of someone who’s been lost for a very long time…the lost Foxworthy heir. But will they find him in time? And will he be a friend or foe?

The sun was beginning to set and the bright day had begun to dissipate as dusk slowly fell over the Culver Hills village center, if one could really call it a village in the middle of Los Angeles. The air grew dense and musty. All the street lamps were off except one, which flickered in a slow, steady beat. Only a small number of cars cruised the road as the kids walked down Main Street toward where the Foxworthy Hotel was perched at the top of the hill. This dark stillness was not usual for this time of day. Something was off.

Get off me!” The voice filled Isabella’s ear a block away from the hotel trolley stop. Her gut tore in two with fear. ”Give that back.”

Isabella slowed down to see Cleo marching back toward the same two bullies she’d rescued Pythian from the other day, one of whom had Xander by the shirt collar as the other was rummaging through Xander’s backpack. Cleo’s shoes lay in a clump.

“There are so many goodies in here. Gum drops. Chocolate snatches. Debbie cakes. And my personal favorite—this camcorder. Oh, wait… no. There’s a little digital camera, too. Looks like Christmas came early for us. Isn’t that right, Sloane?”

“Put my brother down, or you’ll be sorry,” Cleo shouted.

As requested, the boy shoved Xander, sending him tumbling into a nearby thorn bush. “Ahhrrk!” Cleo went straight to his side.

It looked like the kid with Xander’s backpack might consider going for Cleo’s purse, but before that could happen, the other boy, Sloane, said, “Dude, let’s get outta here.” Seth, who was bigger and taller than both of them, and Isabella, whose nostrils flared like a lion, hustled after them.

“I know those guys,” Isabella told Seth.

“Go back and stay with Cleo,” he said.

“Watch me, Superman.”

They looped around the corner as the bullies flew up the service road that led to the back of the hotel. Before they could get too far, four figures in black appeared; from where, Isabella could not tell. Two grabbed the boys. Another took Xander’s backpack. Seth and Isabella both stopped. Cold licked Isabella’s heart. Not an eerie cold, but like a soothing glass of cold lemonade on a scorching day in July.

“What do we do?” Isabella whispered.

“I would tell you to go back, but you’d just make too much noise arguing with me, so I say just shut up.”

“If you tell me to shut up one more time…”

“Not now.”

The two figures holding the boys seemed to melt into the darkness of the trees.

“Where the hell did they go?” Seth asked, protectively pushing Isabella behind him.

She did not fight it. She was starting to become frightened, less of the situation and more of herself. Things had been off more than usual today. For the first time since her parents’ death, she’d felt completely protected, and she wasn’t sure it was all due to the necklace she had been wearing. It was so bizarre.

She was attuned to Cleo and Xander, who were usually never around at the holidays because, like her friend Lana, their parents traveled at that time. She’d felt everything from them: Xander’s exhaustion; Cleo’s boredom and overprotectiveness of her brother. The Logan brothers, however, were different. One minute, she felt Micah’s agitation with Xander, but the next, it would grow cold. And Seth—that boy, she couldn’t get a handle on at all. The only thing she got a sense of was fierce protection, particularly for Micah, but for her as well. She really did not know why.

That was never part of it; she had never felt the direction of a person’s emotions until now. She’d never felt so hot and cold about it. The five of them, connected by a string. It made no sense. Why would she be connected to these random kids?

The two figures in black who had stayed behind whispered to each other. Seth stepped to the side, taking Isabella with him. ”We should go back.”

But he was too late. The men had spotted them and were heading their way. Neither Seth nor Isabella dared to move. In an instant, the tallest of the figures, a young man of about twenty, stood before them. His skin was a beautiful caramel color, his eyes a startling green, and his hair—Isabella saw, as he pushed the hood off his head, he had a nest of shiny curls. He wore a goatee, and his eyes drooped with intellect.

“Declan Timothy. This is Max.” He thumbed at the guy behind him. “Just wanted to give this back to the kid.”

He pushed the backpack into Isabella’s arms. Her vocal cords decided to twist into a knot, so she was unable to say thank you.

“And to tell you to be careful. Tonight is going to change things for you.”

That did it. No more evil cats holding her tongue hostage. “What the heck does that mean?”

“You’ll see. If you need us, ask Theophilus where to find us.”

“Wait a minute,” Seth said, pinning Declan with a heated gaze. “Who are you guys?”

“The Midnight Brotherhood. Be careful, Isabella. And you—make sure she listens.”

“Sure,” Seth replied.

Then they, too, faded into the night.

Seth and Isabella looked at each other, not saying a word. For some reason, words did not seem appropriate at that moment.

When they returned to their friends, Seth spoke quietly as Isabella returned Xander’s backpack to him. “Let’s go home.”

The trolley was nowhere in sight, which was more evidence to Isabella that something was not right. From the bottom of the hill, the hotel was as dim and desolate as it had appeared from the center of the village. With heavy legs, they began up the hill. They climbed the front steps and walked into the lobby. Candlelight dotted the room. Elyse was the first person to approach them; her waitress apron was undone, her hair out of place.

“Thank God you’re all right.”

“What’s going on?” Isabella asked.

“I…” Elyse burst into tears.

“Elyse, tell us now! What happened?”

Elyse wiped her face. “I don’t really know. Everything blacked out for a while. It went cold, and I got really tired. It almost felt like I fell asleep for a while, but then when I woke up, I was standing in the same place I had been before. Right inside the Lily Field ballroom. And then—”

This was the first book of Holly Hood’s that I have read. The book and characters are very well developed. This is not the typical romance and I did find the story both shocking and heart breaking and left me a little depressed. I did struggle at the beginning of the book but by the time I got to chapter 4 I needed to find out what would happen next. Ms Hood is a captivating author and I look forward to reading more from her.

Ok first I would like to say that I will never look at a wish bone again. This book was so good and I could not believe it’s over:(. I would have like to know a little more of the end. What happen to her dad and his girlfriend or what happen to Neil. I can’t say it was a cliff hanger I just was like the end but what what about…..   The author did such a great job on this book I never felt like I was reading Jacy’s recount, but while it was happening so the end was really oh my gosh!!!

E.C. Moore’s young adult novel, Every Big and Little Wish, opens in late spring 1970. Sixteen-year-old Jacy Wilbert’s Mom got promoted, so her parents sold their Victorian home in California and moved to a townhouse in Oregon.

Torn away from the only home she’s ever known, forced to leave her beloved German shepherd behind, Jacy feels misplaced. Exacerbating an already terrible situation, her dad runs off with the bombshell real estate agent who sold them their townhouse. And, just when it seems things can’t get any worse, her mom loses the stupid job they left California for in the first place and begins to drown her sorrows with pink wine, night after night. Jacy’s caught in the middle, struggling to maintain a relationship with her AWOL dad while tolerating his annoying, much-younger girlfriend.

Missing old friends back in California, and feeling like an outsider, Jacy needs to build a new social life in a new school. Not the sort of girl to wait around for what she wants to come her way, she sets her sights on Neil Wilder, the best-looking boy around.

Everything changes when Jacy Wilbert knocks on the wrong door.

After losing her parents and brother in a car crash, Callie dropped out of college and went to live in the small town where her family used to spend the summers. A year later, and struggling to move on, she keeps to herself and wants to be left alone. So she’s not too happy when her new neighbor keeps knocking on her door.

Nash Wheeler, a 25-year-old construction worker from Chicago, inherited the house next to Callie’s and is living there while he renovates it. Outgoing, confident, and never one to back down from a challenge, Nash sets out to get to know his new neighbor, inviting her over for dinner and offering to fix things around her house.

As much as his persistence annoys her, Callie finds herself attracted to the tall, muscular guy next door. And the more time she spends with him, the more she realizes how much they have in common. Like Callie, Nash has experienced loss, but when he opens up to her about it, she’s not willing to do the same. It’s too personal.

Nash is just her neighbor. Just some guy living there for the summer. But is that really all he is? Or is he the one person who can finally help her move on?

Nash turns the TV on and flips through to a reality show where some guy tries to survive in the wild. “How about this?”

“That’s fine.”

He smiles. “Callie, I was joking. I didn’t think you’d actually want to watch some guy trying to catch fish and make a fire for an hour. I’ll find something else.” He flips through the channels.

“Nash, really. I don’t care. You came over to watch TV so watch whatever you want.”

He mutes the TV and looks at me. “That’s not why I came over.”

My stomach clenches as I prepare for him to confront me about my mini breakdown. God, I can’t believe I did that.

“Then why’d you come over?” I ask, lifting my legs onto the couch and hugging my knees to my chest.

He has that same concerned look he had when we were at his house. “Because I—”

“Don’t,” I blurt out.

“Don’t what?”

“Don’t say whatever you were going to say.” I pull my knees even tighter to my chest.

He notices my closed off body language and his face turns from concerned back to his normal, casual, smiling self. “I was going to say that I like hanging out with you. You’re strange, but in a good way.”

“I’m not strange!” I extend my leg out and jab him with my foot.

“I said in a good way.” He laughs and grabs my foot, moving over a little so he can set it on his lap.

“Let go of my foot,” I say, trying to yank it back.

“You like foot rubs?” He kneads his thumb into the base of my foot and, holy crap, that might be the best feeling ever. I relax my leg and let him continue. “Is that a yes?”

I nod. “Yes.”

He chuckles. “Sink down a little. It’s not as good when you’re sitting up.”

Before I can analyze if this is a good idea or not, my body slides down on the couch. Nash turns the sound back on the TV but lowers the volume. Then he wraps both hands around my foot and massages it, his thumbs making long deep strokes from my heel to my toes. My head relaxes against the throw pillow and I close my eyes, focusing on how amazing this feels. One of my boyfriends in college gave me a foot rub one time and it was horrible. It hurt, and then tickled, and then hurt even more, so I never let him do it again.

But this? This is incredible. Nash is only touching my foot and yet I can feel it affecting other parts of my body. My head’s relaxing. My arms. My legs. And…oh, God, how did that happen?

“That good, huh?”

“What?” I open my eyes.

“The foot rub.”

“What about it?”

He smiles. “You were, uh…making some noise just now.”

“I wasn’t making noise,” I insist. I try to sit up but he holds my foot so I can’t move.

“You were moaning,” he says as he runs his thumb up the center of my foot. Shit, that feels good.

“I was NOT moaning.” I prop up on my elbows. “Who moans over a foot rub? That’s ridiculous.”

He eyes me, a sly grin on his face, and then his thumb goes to that spot again. The one that is somehow able to cause a tingle between my legs.

“Oh, God,” I moan, my head falling back.

I hear him chuckle. “Yeah, that. That was it. Sounded like a moan to me.”

Shit, he’s right.

My eyes pop open. “How did you do that?”

“Do what? This?” His thumb returns to that spot.

I tense up, trying to hold myself back from lunging forward onto Nash’s lap and having my way with him right here on the couch.

“Stop it,” I say, trying to wiggle my foot out of his grasp.

“Why?” He smiles. “What does it do to you?”

I’m breathing hard, although I’m trying not to. “Nothing. It’s just…” I relax back on the couch as his thumb moves to the middle of my foot, massaging it with long, steady strokes.

“Would you prefer I do this instead of that other thing?”
