Release Date August 18, 2015

This is the first book of L.M. Pruitt that I have the privilege to read and I must say I Love It! The storyline and the characters are well developed sweet and fun. The main characters, one innocent, well educated, reserved and one wild and well versed in the ways of the carnal world. For the two of them it was lust at first sight. What happened next was somewhat of a surprise. Would the wild one help the stuffy one loosen up or would the stuffy one teach the wild on how to be more reserved? My favorite line in the book has to be “We’ll start tomorrow”. To find out which one of the main characters is the Instructor you’ll just have to read the book yourself. The ending leaves you on a minor cliffhanger but hopefully L.M. Pruitt will come through with another book and make this a series.

Taylor Allerton’s speakeasy is one of the hottest nightclubs in Manhattan. Young, rich, and beautiful, she can have any man she wants–and usually does.

Namir Adeem just became the youngest partner at one of the most prestigious accounting firms in Manhattan. His determination to bring honor to his family leaves no time for any relationship.

Some things can’t be taught in school….

“I’m sure it’s not the first time you’ve had to dissuade a woman in a bar.”

He barked out a laugh. “Ms. Allerton, I’ve spent more time in libraries and schoolrooms than in drinking establishments. I’ll confess, if you hadn’t intervened, I’m not sure how I would have handled your friend.”

“Look, I’ve already decided to hire you, so you really don’t need to continue plugging your education.”

“I assure you, that’s not my intention at all.” He coughed and scratched the side of his nose again. “I’m simply trying to inform you, as delicately as possible, that I am not used to this sort of… open culture.”

I stared at him, working to process his words. “I’m sorry, I’m not really following what you’re saying.”

“When I say I lack experience in certain areas, I mean I… lack experience.” He leaned his head back and closed his eyes. “You do not achieve the success I have at my age without making some sacrifices along the way.”

“Oh.” As the full impact of his words sank in, my eyes widened involuntarily. “Oh. Oh, God. Now I’m even more sorry about Kennedy and how she acted and what she said and–.”

“You don’t need to apologize, Ms. Allerton. You have been beyond professional in every way.” He opened his eyes, tilting his chin down and studying me with a slight smile. “At least you have while in my presence.”

“Well, thank God we can’t get in trouble simply for having dirty thoughts.” I crossed my legs and laughed. “Although it’s probably only me having those thoughts.”

He sat silent for long minutes before clearing his throat. “You would be wrong, Ms. Allerton.”

I lifted my brows, tilting my head to the side. “Oh?”

“I hope this won’t impact our professional relationship but since you are being honest, so must I.” His gaze shifted to mine and I sucked in a breath. “I find you very attractive, Ms. Allerton.”

“In the spirit of continued honesty… my friend was right.” I picked up my glass, taking along sip of watered down tea. “I want to fuck you.”

“As flattering as I find your statement, I doubt it would be very good for you, all things considered.”

“Do you want me to teach you?” I hadn’t even known the thought was in my head until the words were echoing in the room but it was instantly an obsession. Slowly, I began sliding around the booth toward him. “I will—as much as you’re willing to learn.”

He dropped his gaze to the table, shifting restlessly. “You should check on your friend.”

“You didn’t answer the question.”

“It was a highly inappropriate question, Ms. Allerton.”

“Still not an answer.” I leaned closer, my mouth a half inch from his. “Do you want me to educate you or not?”

His lips parted on a sigh. “Yes. I do.”

“Wonderful.” I leaned back, pretending not to see the disappointment flash across his face. “We’ll start tomorrow.”

This is  a gritty heart wrenching love story. But it is not a traditional love story. It is also the anatomy of a marriage gone wrong and how the two partners struggle to make it right. The author portrays two people who loved one another but who for many reasons cannot make a go of their marriage. The world of these characters is a different culture than I live in bit still the emotions are true to anyone. The premise that someone else is responsible for making oneself ‘happy’ is refuted well. And to find love and happiness each character must learn that true happiness must come from within.

These characters are flawed and real and made me angry, sad, happy and frustrated. There are situations that made me uncomfortable but the point is that this made me feel and think. If you are looking for something with a clean HEA then this is not for you. If you are looking for something to make you feel and squirm and think, then this is for you. I can Highly Recommend this book.

Loose Ends 3D

Available for Purchase:

All three books in the bestselling Loose Ends series are now available in one neat package! Follow Gabriel Roberts and Nicole Langley as they tie up the loose ends of their lust-to-love story in this sizzling erotic romance.

#1 CRUSH(Loose Ends, #1)

Nicole Langley’s #1 Crush has always been Gabriel Roberts, but settling for being a friendly acquaintance has had to be enough.

Gabriel has always seen Nicole as his good friend’s very pretty, but extremely off limits baby sister.

Then a hot summer day and an even hotter discovery pushes them over the lines of friendship, over the lines of unrequited desire, and into each other’s arms.

Will they indulge and move on? Or will this crush turn into something more, something deeper? Something that leaves loose ends begging to be tied…

CLOSER(Loose Ends, #2)

After a whirlwind week of hot sex and growing affection, Nicole and Gabriel were forced to part ways and to return to real life. For a while they danced around each other, meeting up when they could, the distance between them rivaled only by their desire to be together again.

Now these lovers are no longer star-crossed. They’re in the same city at the same time and can finally indulge their insatiable passion. At least until Gabriel’s increasingly popular band goes on tour.

But the ticking clock of his budding music career isn’t the only obstacle to contend with. A blast from Gabriel’s wild past, a guy that kept Nicole warm in Gabriel’s absence, and fear of what the future holds all converge just as they’ve begun to realize this might be love…

Author’s Note:This book contains strong language and sexual content with dark elements, some of which readers may find uncomfortable.

MIND OVER MATTER(Loose Ends, #3)

They said they would try. They said they would give their love a chance.

But when the mistakes of Gabriel’s past clashed with Nicole’s hopes for the future, they realized love wasn’t enough. They tied up the loose ends of their broken hearts and walked away.

Now, Gabriel’s career is on a meteoric rise and he is back to his bachelor ways. He told Nicole he couldn’t promise forever and did his best to let her go, but these days he wonders if he spoke too soon.

Nicole has a new life, a new man, and she refuses to look back. To everyone around her though, not looking back looks an awful lot like running scared from the past.

With Jackie and Ian’s wedding approaching, a reunion between the best man and the maid of honor is to be expected. What they don’t expect is for the olive branch of friendship to catch fire with a love and need that is stronger than even their best intentions.

They called it quits. But is it really over? They still love each other. But does that even matter when they’ve made up their minds that there’s no going back?

This was a well written book. It was nice to read a book that was well researched. Besides being well researched, the writing had me feeling true empathy for the characters. I was happy when they were and felt sadness also. I won’t say too much, except this…it’s a good book! It’s a book that you can sink your teeth in to. This isn’t a mindless take up time kind of read. At times while reading, I completely got lost in the story. Make sure you don’t put anything in the oven without a timer. If you do, you may have to make a call for pizza 🙂 The author has always been on my list to read, but hadn’t gotten around to reading her books. I’m really glad that I finally got the chance. I will be reading more of her work!

They hailed her “Liberty,” but she was free only to obey—or die.

Betrayed by her father and sold as payment of a Roman tax debt to fight in Londinium’s arena, gladiatrix-slave Rhyddes feels like a wild beast in a gilded cage. Celtic warrior blood flows in her veins, but Roman masters own her body. She clings to her vow that no man shall claim her soul, though Marcus Calpurnius Aquila, son of the Roman governor, makes her yearn for a love she believes impossible.

Groomed to follow in his father’s footsteps and trapped in a politically advantageous betrothal, Aquila prefers the purity of combat on the amphitheater sands to the sinister intrigues of imperial politics, and the raw power and athletic grace of the flame-haired Libertas to the adoring deference of Rome’s noblewomen.

When a plot to overthrow Caesar ensnares them as pawns in the dark design, Aquila must choose between the Celtic slave who has won his heart and the empire to which they both owe allegiance. Knowing the opposite of obedience is death, the only liberty offered to any slave, Rhyddes must embrace her arena name—and the love of a man willing to sacrifice everything to forge a future with her.

Marcus Calpurnius Aquila sprawled on his belly across the cushioned and linen-draped marble massage table, his head, arms, shins, and feet jutting over the table’s padded edges. As the male slave worked eucalyptus-scented unguent into the aching muscles, Marcus could feel the tensions of combat seep away.

Too bad the man couldn’t work out the knots in Marcus’s relationship with his father, Sextus Calpurnius Agricola, governor of Britannia province.

Citing “official business” yet again, Agricola had declined to witness Marcus’s gladiatorial bout in Londinium’s amphitheater this afternoon. His opponent had fought well, causing Marcus in his scanty armor to work up a sweat that, judging by the reverberating high-pitched cheers, had all the women swooning with delight.

Never mind that Marcus, who fought under his cognomen, Aquila, the Eagle, remained a perennial favorite with the crowd. Agricola never missed an opportunity to point out that his arena exhibitions—and the resulting private liaisons with adoring female spectators—flirted with the precipice of social acceptability and could damage Marcus’s political aspirations.

About the Author:

Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet.

Kim is a Seattle native and a direct descendent of twentieth-century Russian nobility. Her grandmother was a childhood friend of the doomed Grand Duchess Anastasia, and the romantic yet tragic story of how Lydia escaped Communist Russia with the aid of her American husband will most certainly one day fuel one of Kim’s novels. Another novel in the queue will involve her husband’s ancestor, the seventh-century proto-Viking king of the Swedish colony in Russia.

For the time being, however, Kim has plenty of work to do in creating her projected 8-book Arthurian series, The Dragon’s Dove Chronicles, and other novels under her imprint, Pendragon Cove Press. Review by Romantic Renay

Our Blog was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Our Earth is on the edge of destruction, our cities are pocked with missile craters, and beneath the surface the alien factory queen lurks.

Four women of power may be our saviors. The last is Talia. Gifted by earth magic with a mastery of edged weapons, she’s a katana-wielding, geek chick with a loathing of alpha men. Although mating enhances magic, she knows bonding with aliens must surely be wrong. Besides, her destined bond mate, Brask, is an Igrakk warrior of the caveman persuasion. One dominant male is bad enough. Dassenze, the alien man-god in the flesh, also desires her and no isn’t a word he appreciates.

As they near their target, Talia’s man problems become the lesser of many evils, for the factory queen awaits them with her nerve chewers and her drills. The price for being avenging, kickass heroines could be a messy death.

Warning: Dominance and submission themes, hot aliens, and violence. Mild horror too if you’re squeamish.

Defiler Banner 851 x 315

The rhythm of the fight sang to her muscles and her mind. Brask went down to her blade, once, twice. They commenced again. The clunk and clang echoed in the room. Outside was pure darkness due to the window reflecting back the faint light Dassenze possessed. She parried and leapt backward, ready to return.

“Stop!” Dassenze cried. “Let’s try this instead. Catch.”

Brask caught the flung object and sent his sword skidding along the table toward Dassenze. The object was small and pistol shaped. He held it up for her to see. “This simulates a handgun, Talia.”

“Yes. I can tell if it hits you. It emits intermittent bursts of green light. I want to see if you can avoid being shot before reaching Brask. It’s dark. You’re tired. I can see you’re slowing down.”

“Okay.” He didn’t miss much. She was tiring but so was Brask. She let her gaze calibrate the hard curves of his arms and the sheen of sweat on his chest and abdomen. These Igrakk aliens didn’t differ much at all from humans.

“Like what you see?” With his thumb, Brask flicked something on the pistol. A green dot blinked on the floor in front of him.

“I was simply comparing your anatomy to that of humans.”

“And? What did you decide?”

The angle of his eyebrow and timbre of his voice fascinated her. Anatomy sounded clinical and her reaction was definitely not that. Something about having to look up at him, even from across the room, triggered an oh yum response. Next she’d be asking for his autograph.

She untangled her thoughts and searched for a witty reply. It didn’t arrive in time and for once honesty came first.

“That you look very similar to a man.” She cleared her throat. “In your musculature. I’ve studied anatomy before getting my forensic pathology degree.”

“Does that surprise you?”

Dassenze chipped in. “Throughout the universe, all intelligent life, excluding our enemies the Bak-lal, are mammals and compatible enough to mate and produce viable offspring.”

His words died away. The room was quiet. She was alone with them and they all knew what the other was thinking. Reproduction. Sex. Only her thoughts had gone precisely, unerringly, to the dirtiest possible arrangement with the two of them fucking her at once.

Abort that thought. Shit, damn, and crap. Stop thinking dirty.

The heat of a blush arrived. Then she wondered if those specifications included the Ascend who were supposed to be gods. She wasn’t going to ask.

“In case you’re wondering, we Ascend don’t quite fit into that system.”

Could he mind read?

“We can mate but not have offspring. There have been no new Ascend for several hundred years.

That was sad. Her eyes fixed on Dassenze. “How old are you?” Could a god have an age?

“I’m very old.” His smile was barely there. “Now we’ve settled that. Begin. Get from where you are to Dassenze without being hit. Begin when this pen hits the floor.” He held his closed fist at his knee’s height.

The pen fell, tumbling.

Her flight was a rapid parabola curving to wall and back in, with a somersault and a spin to confuse his aim. The force when she hit him surprised even her and he thunked backward with her on top of him and the sword point diving toward his neck with her full weight behind it.

At the last microsecond, Brask batted it away. The sword flew sideways and stuck into the upholstery of a chair, yards away to the side.

A second later, it was back in her hand. Gaping, still straddling Brask’s stomach, she stared at the blade. How?

Then he hauled her down and kissed her.

The impact went through her like a flight of slow motion doves. Bliss. Everything shut down except an awareness of him beneath her and his lips on hers. His hand was at the back of her head and he threaded his fingers through her hair, gathering more in his fist to pull her even closer. To keep her still.

But she wasn’t going anywhere.

The kiss lasted forever, or it seemed so. While they kissed she lived only that moment, the press on her skin, the heat, the parting to allow his tongue inside her. When his lips left hers she was struck by the loss. She kept her eyes shut, reliving what had happened even though his breathing was still so close, inches away, warming her face.

And as he breathed, she rose and fell. Her thighs were spread. She was vulnerable, despite her position above.

She opened her eyes.

He looked up at her, smiling, with his fingers still tight in her hair, pulling on her scalp.

Any minute, he would fling her down and roll her over, pull down her tights and fuck her.

Her resistance had vanished. He could rip a hole in her tights and do her sitting here. She drew her lower lip between her teeth, on the edge of leaning down and whispering it to his ear.

With this being the first book I have read by Ms Hennessy I did not have any expectations of liking or not liking the book. I found the storyline and the characters well developed. The characters are strong, passionate, and interesting. There are people rescued, and a kidnapping, plus a love story. What more could you ask for? Maybe the setting? New Orleans, one of me favorited places to visit. Historical stories are not my favorite things to read but I have to say that with the action and emotions involved in this story she captured my attention.

As she stood, dressed in a chemise with diamonds hanging from dainty earlobes that once had felt his kisses, wearing a necklace that trimmed the contours of her throat, supple, soft, and so inviting, wearing satin slippers, she looked more the expensive courtesan than a wife gone rogue. But his compassion was gone, vented, like a winded sail suddenly pierced. He reached out and laced his fingers in the wild and free locks of her hair and wound them tightly in his hand. Slowly he reeled her into him, pressing her body close to his with her face upward. He ran his other hand up along the terrain of her throat as would a sculptor admiring his work.

She inhaled deeply and ran a tongue over her lips. He held her there, immobile, vacillating between cursing himself for wanting her and cursing her for having left him. He tilted her head slightly, allowing his hand full access to her throat, cupping his hand around her neck with his thumb and forefinger. Straddling her larynx, he applied light

pressure because he could, and she couldn’t stop him.

“Where is this little pistol of yours?”

“I do not have it.” She didn’t try to resist; instead she closed her eyes. He wondered if she thought he would end her life here, for she resisted not. His thumb stroked the flawless skin beneath her chin, reminiscing about the feel, having never touched a woman like her.

She opened her eyes and met his. The sea-green color reflected the mist she had thought to dab away. A tear rolled down her cheek and over the tips of his fingers.

“You wish to harm me?” she whispered. “It will not make this go away.”

He kept his focus on her face, her eyes, for in them he would always find his truth.

“Do you think I wish to?” His voice as low as the rumbling thunder that rattled the window panes. “Or that I would?”

She drew another long, deep breath. Her breasts pressed against his chest; he felt the air come and go and a slight muffled sob that escaped. She was powerless and she knew

“No, I do not think that.” Her voice was just a whisper, but had a hungry sound to

it that made him wonder who he was speaking to, his wife or Jordan’s sister?

“No, harm you, I will not, but take you at my leisure, I will.”

He brushed her lips with his. Her mouth opened slightly for him. She tasted sweet and salty, tears mixed with beauty. He dropped his hand from her throat and wrapped

it around her body. At more than six feet, Donato towered over Colette. He

nearly lifted her from her feet. But he didn’t care; he had wanted this kiss since he’d seen her in New Orleans, when she had fought him on the dock, when she had kept a rigid

spine and led them through the swamp, and when she had fallen overboard and dangled above a furious sea. He had almost asked her permission before, only to be rebuked,

but not this time. This kiss was his, and damned if he wasn’t going to take it.

Meg Hennessy

About the Author:

Meg Hennessy read her first historical romance when Rosemary Rodgers’, Sweet Savage Love, swept the college campuses. She won’t admit how many years ago that was, but was forever hooked on the genre of happy-ever-afters. Meg grew up immersed in the culture of her father’s old Southern family and writes with a Southern flavor. It was her sense of wonderment when visiting her grandmother’s home as a child that now bubbles upward into her writing of today, creating steamy nights of intrigue and romance.

She had been writing for years, but seriously pursued publication in 2009. Seeking authenticity for her first novel, she researched hundreds of books, visited numerous battlefields, and toured antebellum homes. When it came to putting pen to paper, Meg found her story-telling voice, as her heroine simply stepped into Shadows of a Southern Moon, winning the 2010 EPIC Award for best Historical Romance and launching her writing career.

Meg lives amid the beautiful rolling hills of southeastern Wisconsin. Besides writing and spoiling her much-loved horse, she enjoys backyard birding, nature walks, and admits to being a gardening addict. Having spun stories for years, she enjoys seeing her dream come true as her characters spring to life and step within the beautifully bound pages of a romance novel.
